last sunrise on earth

As the sun rises, so does the dread
For this will be the last we'll see
The sky painted in hues of red
A sight that will forever be

The world is quiet, the air is still
As if it knows what's to come next
We can't escape, we can't fulfill
Our dreams and hopes, our love and unwritten texts

The sun creeps higher, a final light
We soak it in, we hold it dear
We know that this is our last sight
Of a world that we once held near

The earth will shake, the waves will rise
And we'll be lost in endless night
But for now, we watch with teary eyes
The last sunrise, a final sight

We'll hold each other, but we're yet to say goodbye
To a world that we'll leave behind
We'll cherish memories as we die
And hope that in the end we'll find

A place where we'll see the sun again
And watch it rise on a brand new day
A place where we'll forget the pain
Of the last sunrise on earth, and stay.
